New 1 Gigabit MagJack® Connector Series from Bel Stewart Connector Features a Two-Tier Compressed Profile of Only 0.785" (19.94 mm)

RJ-45 Connectors with Integrated Magnetics and LED Options Engineered for High-Component-Density Networking and Telecom Applications

FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATELY
July 10, 2006

Glen Rock, PA, July 10, 2006…Released today from Bel Stewart Connector, a subsidiary of Bel Fuse Inc. (NASDAQ: BELFA and BELFB), is the Compressor Series (P/N C85X) of MagJack® connectors for small form factor 1 GHz applications. These new right-angle jacks incorporate the magnetics required to provide the isolation and EMI suppression necessary for 10/100/1000 Base-T applications into the shielded body of a rugged RJ-45 connector, and offer options for 2 LEDs per port. This Series is the latest addition to the Company’s comprehensive portfolio of single- and multi-port MagJack Integrated Connector Modules (ICMs) for computer and telecommunication networks. Most notable, the Compressor Series is comprised of a two-tier stacked lineup of 6-, 8- , 12-, and 16-port devices boasting an ultra-low height of only 0.785” (19.94 mm). Specifically engineered to allow EOEMs and OEDs the utmost in system design flexibility as well as reduce their assembly time and cost, the Compressor MagJacks are available with varied internal filter designs to optimize the performance of all the most popular chipsets.  Bel Stewart Connectors’ 100% RoHS-compliant MagJack product offering meets or exceeds IEEE 802.3ab and ANSI X3.263 standards.

Suitable for CAT 5 and CAT 6 Fast Ethernet cable, the 1 GHz MagJack is ideal for employment in small form factor and chassis applications where space above the PCB is limited. They are uniquely targeted to such ATCA™ (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) platform rack-mount products as blade servers, and daughter cards, and are widely specified in SOHO (ADSL modems), LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM), hub, and switch applications. Additionally, connectors may be confidently specified for use in NICs (network interface cards), bridges, and routers.

Featuring a full range of magnetic options including transformers, chokes, capacitors, and termination resistors, Bel Stewart Connector’s MagJacks have been thoroughly tested to deliver a minimum of 1500 Vrms hipot isolation from EMI and RFI interference.  They moreover feature 350 µH minimum OCL (open-circuit inductance) with 8 mA bias current, and an operating temperature range of -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C. Connectors are provided standard with phosphor bronze, gold-plated (30 microinch) contacts to ensure high-cycle life. LED options include yellow, green, red, and bi-colors.
Pricing for Bel Stewart Connectors’ Compressor Series (P/N C85X) of MagJacks ranges from $1.75 to $2.25 per port in production quantities. While delivery is 10 weeks ARO, samples are immediately available.
